The slate of college football matchups tomorrow is the best we have seen in the young 2021 season. The Hogs and Dawgs are the opening act to a stellar lineup. A top ten matchup with the College Gameday crew in attendance is not how I imagined week five of the season panning out for the Hogs, but here we are. I think tomorrow will be a true defensive slugfest, with the first team to reach twenty points becoming the victor. The current quarterback situation for each team may contribute to the defensive battle between the hedges tomorrow.
We all know KJ Jefferson missed a handful of possessions due to a bruised knee last week. In his midweek press conference, Sam Pittman said that Jefferson’s knee was banged up, but he will be ready to go come Saturday. The Georgia defense will be the biggest test for the Razorback offense so far, and having Jefferson will be critical to opening up the playbook.
For the Bulldogs, the rumors coming out of Athens seem to be uncertain regarding quarterback JT Daniels. Daniels is said to be battling a muscle strain in his back. If Daniels cannot play on Saturday, then the Hogs will see senior quarterback Stetson Bennett as the fill-in. Bennett threw for two touchdowns against the Hogs last year in Fayetteville. However, the Arkansas defense has established dominance in their performances since last season’s opener against the Bulldogs. So expect to see either quarterback start the game for Georgia tomorrow. Regardless, it is sure to be a physical affair that you could only expect between two top ten SEC teams. Go Hogs!
