Arkansas 77 Oklahoma State 81

Heartbreak. Absolute heartbreak.

The Razorbacks come up just short on the road at Oklahoma State on Saturday. The game was Cade Cunningham’s return from missing 2 games due to COVID-19 protocols.

Cunningham came off the bench and took over late in the 2nd half. I thought Arkansas played really solid defense on him, but he continued to make tough shots.

Devo Davis was an instant spark off the bench and played great basketball today. He had 12 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 steals. Moses Moody had a great 2nd half to record 17 points and 4 rebounds.

Justin Smith had his best game since returning from injury. He had 18 points on 9-14 shooting with 7 rebounds and assists.

The game was tied at 77 with roughly 90 seconds left. Arkansas defended well, but could not pull the rebound down. As a result, OSU got 2 extra possessions and Cunningham hit a tough jumper to give the Cowboys a 2 point lead. After a blocking foul, Arkansas was inbounding on the sideline. The pass was bad to JD Notae who was immediately trapped. Notae passed it to an open Connor Vanover who missed the 3. OSU got the rebound and that wrapped up the game.

It was a heartbreaker because the Hogs battled and it was a great opportunity to improve the resumé.

There are still plenty of opportunities for this team going forward.

Next up, Arkansas takes on Mississippi State at home on Tuesday night.
