Alabama Throttles Arkansas, 90-59

NCAA Basketball: Arkansas at Alabama Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

I can’t explain how hard it is to write this recap. 90-59. An absolute blowout from the beginning.

The one bright spot was Moses Moody. The freshman isn’t scared of anyone. He isn’t scared of failing. He just goes out and plays his game. No matter the score and no matter the opponent. He finished with 28 points, a career high, to with 9 rebounds.

Speaking of fear, what is up with this team? They looked scared on offense. So many times today 3s in rhythm were passed on for contested shots late in the shot clock.

There is no doubt that there are chemistry issues with this team right now. Silly, unforced turnovers. The passes aren’t crisp like they were early in the year.

On the other side, Alabama continues to roll. The defense was swarming. The offense was unphased. They did whatever they wanted for 40 minutes today.

John Petty broke the Alabama record for made 3s in a career. He finished with 17 points.

Jaden Shackelford added 16 points and Herb Jones had 13 despite dislocating his finger on Wednesday. 11 players scored for the Tide. They face LSU next week in what will be one of the best games in the league this year.

Arkansas takes on Auburn Wednesday night in Bud Walton Arena. The Hogs have to find out how to play together again. That sounds so dramatic considering just 7 days ago we were celebrating a 30 point win over Georgia. Yet here we are. That is how bad this week has been for the Hogs.

Losing these 2 games was not concerning. Honestly, 0-2 was an easy prediction this week.

But it is how those losses happen that causes concern. The taste of these losses will make it hard to find hope for upcoming games.

Like I have said before, don’t quit on them. Ride with them until the end!
