Freshmen Finding Roles In Two Deep For Hogs

It comes as no surprise that Arkansas will have a lot of youth and inexperience starting and finding playing time this fall. The late start to recruiting seemed to put this staff behind the eight ball as it came to finding athletes to fill out the 2020 class. This one could be top heavy but there were several players that will contribute early and you can see why by just looking at the depth chart that was released on Monday.

On offense you will see that Blayne Toll of Hazen, Arkansas has found a home at tight end at least for this season. Toll is the only true freshman to find his name on the two deep on offense.

However, you will see quite a few redshirt freshmen there. Offensive linemen Brady Latham and Beaux Limmer have been chosen to start at left and right guard. Both received playing time in 2019 season but due to the new 4-game rule the NCAA allows those to transfer if they play in that many games or less. That bodes well for the majority of that 2019 class for sure.

On defense, you will find plenty of youth and first time Razorbacks along the depth chart. Graduate transfers, a junior college player and a few freshmen are on this one. The most notable of those is Myles Slusher of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was committed to Oregon but with a late push from Arkansas and a scare from Nebraska, the new staff was able to hold onto the prize defensive back of the 2020 class.

“Slusher has been a mature and athletic guy since he walked in the door,” said Pittman. “We are really excited about his future here. He is very physical, coach able and he’s got speed. That is why he is in our two deep.”

Other newcomers and freshmen in the two deep are:

Rs Senior DT Xavier Kelly

Rs Freshman DT Taurean Carter

JUCO Junior DE Julius Coates

Rs. Freshman DE Eric Gregory

Rs. Junior LB Levi Draper

Rs. Senior DB Jerry Jacobs

True Freshman DB Khari Johnson

Rs. Freshman Safety Jalen Catalon
