Rakeem Boyd was announced as a preseason Coaches All-SEC selection for the first time in his Razorback career on Thursday.
The senior running back has led his team in rushing the previous two seasons. He has accumulated 1867 yards and 10 touchdowns during his Razorback career and that has set the tone for the growing expectations leading into his final season at the collegiate level.
The Houston, Texas native rushed for a total of 1133 yards last season with 10 touchdowns. He also rushed for over 100 yards in five contests. Last season he averaged just over 94 yards per game rushing while ranking fourth in the conference and 27th in the nation is average yards per game. Boyd has a career long run of 86 yards coming in last years game against Western Kentucky.
He is also on several watch lists for this coming season including the Maxwell, Doak Walker and Earl Campbell Awards respectively.
Boyd and his Razorback teammates will kickoff the season at 3:30 CST on the SEC Network versus the Georgia Bulldogs ok September 26 in Fayetteville.
