Not getting to watch our Hogs this week absolutely sucks, but the silver lining is...there’s a lot of interesting games to hold your attention, in the SEC and out in the beyond.
The big game inside the conference is certainly the Iron Bowl. Has Auburn (whom, you’ll recall, the Hogs beat) turned a corner? The Tigers seem to have gotten better, weeks after their fairy godmothers/SEC refs routinely kept them from turning into pumpkins. On the other hand, the Tide is the Tide. They’re the class of the conference once again, and they look to be heading to the College Football Playoff.
Further down the SEC West standings, the Egg Bowl is happening once again, a year after being a most consequential game played between two mediocre rivals. It doesn’t mean much outside the state of Mississippi, but it’s guaranteed to have some dumb things occur. And Mike Leach and Lane Kiffin aren’t just going to not be weird for the sake of being weird.
In the evening slate, A&M and LSU are facing off. LSU’s probably feeling like they did something last week. Can they carry some momentum to College Station? A&M’s #5 ranking in the newly-released Playoff standings means they have a ton on the line. Aggies have never shot themselves in the foot at the exact wrong time, have they?
We have a consensus at Arkansas Fight, which assuredly means we’re gonna be wrong, a couple times over. See if you can spot where we went wrong, and comment below!
