On Tuesday, 2021 JUCO star, Akol Mawein made it official as he signed to become an Arkansas Razorback. Mawein is a 6-9 stretch 4 who can really score the basketball.
New Assistant Coach David Patrick was key in Mawein choosing to call the Hogs. He has ties to Arkansas. He played high school ball at Southwest Christian Academy in Little Rock and played AAU with Woodz Elite.
Mawein is a sophomore at Navarro College in Corsicana, TX. He averaged 13.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game on 47.5 FG% and 32.8 3P%. In his last 14 games, he averaged 16.8 points and 5.7 rebounds with games of 28 points, 31 points, and 25 points.
The 2021 Arkansas class currently ranks 49th in the country. That number is on par with only having 2 commitments and one of them being a JUCO player. Mawein is rated as a 4-star prospect and is the #4 JUCO player according to 247sports.
