The SEC schedule is always a gauntlet for baseball teams and this year is no different. Dave Van Horn and the Hogs are coming off their College World Series season and will face plenty of quality teams. Here’s how the schedule breaks down for the Hogs
February
7 games (4 home, 3 away)
- 2/15-17 vs. Eastern Illinois
- 2/21-23 at USC
- 2/27 vs. Memphis
A pretty basic start for the Hogs. February has traditionally had a small school from the north comedown to open the season and the Hogs take a west coast road trip to get a quality series in and up their visibility in recruiting. This year it’s no different.
March
22 games (16 home, 6 away)
- 3/1-3 vs. Stony Brook
- 3/5-6 vs. Charlotte
- 3/8-10 vs. Louisiana Tech
- 3/12-13 vs. Western Illinois
- 3/15-17 vs. Missouri
- 3/19-20 at #16 Texas
- 3/22-24 at Alabama
- 3/26 at Missouri State
- 3/29-31 vs. #10 Ole Miss
If you got your season tickets, this is the month for you. Arkansas has 13 games in 17 days all at Baum Stadium. After that it’s their first ranked matchup, taking on Texas in a CWS rematch. That’s part of a six game road swing that includes a matchup against Missouri State, which is becoming as fun as a midweek matchup can be. Then the month ends with a real marquee matchup against the Rebels at Baum.
April
18 games (11 home, 6 away, 1 neutral)
- 4/2 vs. Little Rock
- 4/4-6 at Auburn
- 4/9 vs. Oral Roberts
- 4/12-14 at #2 Vanderbilt
- 4/16 vs. UA-Pine Bluff
- 4/18-20 vs. #15 Mississippi State
- 4/23-24 vs. Northwestern State
- 4/26-28 vs. Tennessee
- 4/30 vs. Grambling (Little Rock)
Things are really kicking up for the Hogs in the SEC race. Auburn will not be an easy road series, then that is followed by traveling to face a loaded Commodores team and Mississippi State at home. Arkansas also kicks off a couple of series against in-state foes (what a novel idea), one of which is the annual game in Little Rock.
May
9 games (3 home, 6 away)
- 5/3-5 at Kentucky
- 5/9-11 vs. #1 LSU
- 5/16-18 at Texas A&M
Man what a rough way to end things. Arkansas has two tough road trips sandwiched around a final home series against the top ranked team in the preseason polls. Arkansas will certainly want to have racked up plenty of wins before hand.
