#6 Soccer to Take on North Texas in NCAA Tournament

A number 3 seed is the highest in program history!

The historic run continues for Arkansas Soccer. Following a tough loss to a great South Carolina team in the SEC Championship, the team was selected as a 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. This is the highest the team has ever been selected in the NCAA Tournament. The team will face North Texas on Friday to open up what should be a deep tournament run. The Mean Green were Conference USA Tournament champions, so they are sure to put up a fight, but the Regular Season SEC Champions will enter the match heavily favored.

This is the fourth straight appearance in the NCAA tournament for the Razorbacks, as Coach Colby Hale appears to have caught lightning in a bottle. Arkansas had only made the tournament twice before, showing that Coach Hale must be a hell of a coach.

The season has been outstanding, marked by a comprehensive team game. The team excels on both offense and defense, and while players like freshman phenom Anna Podojil have lit the league on fire, everyone is pulling their weight. There’s no reason to believe that the team won’t play well in the tournament, as they have been an outstanding team both at home and on the road this year. They have a victory over the number 1 team in the country as well, so don’t be surprised if they shock some higher ranked teams.

Personally, I thought they got done a little dirty with a three seed, as the soccer equivalent of FPI puts them at #6 in the country, but what would an Arkansas run be without a chip on its shoulder? This team will rise to the occasion, and make good on what has been an unbelievably promising campaign.

Kickoff is in Fayetteville at 6:30pm CST, and tickets are still on sale. You don’t want to miss what’s sure to be a great game. If you can’t attend, the games are usually streamed on the SEC Network. We’ll keep you updated on that front.

If you’d like to know more about the team, check out Episode 2 of Wooo Pod Sooie for our interview with freshman forward Jordan Stack, as she explains what it means to be an Arkansas Soccer player.

Let’s get behind these ladies and watch them bring it home!
