Preview and Gamethread: Arkansas vs Texas Tech

It’s SEC/Big 12 Challenge Time

Time: 5 p.m. CT

Line: Texas Tech -10.5, O/U: 136

TV: ESPN2

Location: Lubbock, TX

Arkansas heads to Lubbock with a tough game ahead. The Red Raiders have lost three straight but are one of the top, if not the best defensive teams in the country. Arkansas has struggled mightily against those types of teams so points will be hard to come by for the Hogs.

Jarrett Culver is the star for the Red Raiders and his draft stock has been rising all season long. Ricky O’Donnell’s most recent mock has him going third overall. Arkansas will have to deal with that and a very experienced front line of Tariq Owens and Norense Odiase that are long and block a ton of shots.

The numbers for Texas Tech’s defense are absolutely daunting. Arkansas has faced a lot of top defenses in the country but this one is the best. Arkansas will have a tough time scoring in half court scenarios. The solution to that? They’re going to need to create a lot more scoring chances through offensive rebounding and forcing turnovers. The good news for them is the Red Raiders have given up a lot of steals this season and are an average rebounding team. The bad news? Arkansas is going to face a talented and likely hungry team eager to be back in front of home fans after back to back road losses.
