Express Recap: Women’s Hoops Wins in Knoxville

Mike Neighbors is having one heck of a year 2.

Women’s Basketball

After an off week in SEC play, Arkansas got a big road win in Knoxville, beating Tennessee 80-79 for just the second time on the road in program history. Malica Monk had the game winner for the Hogs.

The Hogs are now 14-5 on the season, which has already surpassed last season’s win total with over 10 to go. The Hogs are also 3-2 in SEC play, matching last season’s total as well. Arkansas has done excellent on the road as well, improving their road record to 6-2 on the season so far. There is a lot of season to go and the SEC is always brutal in women’s hoops, but the postseason isn’t out of the picture and that would be a huge accomplishment for Mike Neighbors in year 2.

Gymnastics

They went on the road and fell to No. 16 Kentucky 195.275-193.875. Arkansas had a rough first rotation on bars and played catchup the rest of the evening. They won the third rotation where they were on the floor routine, but couldn’t catch the Wildcats.

Swimming and Diving

Women’s basketball wasn’t the only program going out and getting a road win. The swim team beat No. 25 Houston 193-107 in the pool. They were led once again by Brooke Schultz, who set school record in the 1M and 3M diving events.

Men’s Tennis

It was a 4-1 week for the tennis team. First they swept a double header against Mercer. Pedro Dominguez led the way with an easy 6-0, 6-0 win in the first match. Then in a dual meet against Saint Louis and UCF they didn’t drop against Saint Louis, and came from behind to top the Knights. On Monday they fell 6-1 to No. 21 Oklahoma State on the road.

Women’s Tennis

On the women’s side, they swept a double header against Kennesaw State, where Tatum Rice and Martina Zerulo dominated. Then on the weekend Saint Louis came to town and the Hogs got a 7-0 sweep over the Bilikens just as the men did.
