The roster turnover continues for the Hogs, and the wide receiving group is going to look significantly different going into next season. La’Michael Pettway is the latest Hog to leave the program.
Pettway tied for the team lead in receptions in 2018 with 30. He also led the team with 499 receiving yards and his four touchdowns was second most on the team. Pettway announced that he intends to go the graduate transfer route so he will be immediately eligible in 2019.
He is the sixth player to announce his transfer since the end of the 2018 season, and that doesn’t include Ty Storey who has entered his name into the transfer portal but has yet to make a final decision. Pettway leaving also means that Arkansas’ leading receivers in terms of yardage from both 2017 and 2018 left the program this season.
That will leave the door open for the upcoming group of receivers that Arkansas will bring in. The group of Trey Knox, Treylon Burks, Shamar Nash, and TQ Jackson is the headlining group of the 2019 recruiting class and only a few elite programs have a receiver class to match it.
A 3-star from Nashville, AR, Pettway redshirted his first year in Fayetteville and made a smaller impact in the next two seasons. 2018 was his breakout season a he finishes his career as a Hog with 602 yards and five touchdowns.
The move currently puts the Hogs at 84 scholarship players including committed but unsigned members of the 2019 recruiting class. That class is currently at 27 but the staff will hope to add a few more names before February’s Signing Day.
