Our newest edition of Throwback Thursdays takes us back to the 2007 season and the battle with North Texas in Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.
September 29, 2007
After two gut-wrenching losses in SEC play to Alabama and Kentucky, the Razorbacks were looking for something to feel good about and that came in the form of the Mean Green.
Arkansas ran wild in the contest, compiling 446 yards rushing on 55 attempts. Darren McFadden led the way with 19 carries for 138 yards and two touchdowns, including a run where he stiff armed a defender’s helmet off.
Felix Jones added 132 yards on just 7 carries (!), including a 71-yard touchdown run. Even Brandon Barnett went over the century mark, finishing with 105 on 16 totes. Peyton Hillis went for 66 yards.
Casey Dick was 12 for 21 for 210 yards and three touchdowns, eventually being replaced by Nathan Emert in mop-up duty in the 66-7 shellacking.
The win got Arkansas back to .500 before heading down to Little Rock to face the Chattanooga Mocs.
2003 also saw the Razorbacks play North Texas early in the season, and they easily defeated the Mean Green, 31-7.
