Football may have been a disaster this weekend but the rest of Arkansas sports took care of business this past weekend. A combined 5-0 at home between soccer and volleyball made for a successful weekend in Fayetteville while the football team was away.
Soccer
A pair of matches where Arkansas gave up the first goal but then followed with three straight to pick up 3-1 wins over both Florida Atlantic and UConn. Arkansas dominated the Owls on Friday, outshooting them 23-6 and having an 18-0 advantage on corner kicks. The win over UConn wasn’t quite as comprehensive, but still had a very clear advantage in most stats for the Razorbacks. Arkansas had five different goal scorers this weekend. Parker Goins was the only player to score twice, getting a goal in each game. Arkansas ends the non-conference portion of their season 5-1-1 and steps into conference play with some positive momentum.
Volleyball
After travelling for a tournament, Arkansas hosted one of their own. They were wildly successful, not only winning all three matches but they didn’t drop a single set throughout. It started with a win over Butler, who had some very competitive sets, sending the last two to extra points. On Saturday they had a methodical win with three straight 25-18 set wins. Reagan Robinson led the way with 16 kills in that one. Against Northwestern, Arkansas won each set comfortably. They have an upcoming weekend in Atlanta against a couple of ACC foes before they start conference play.
