The NBA Draft came and went for Jaylen Barford and Daryl Macon. Neither were one of the 60 names called, but both will get a chance to impress NBA teams. Both will play in Vegas at the NBA Summer League. Barford will join the Minnesota Timberwolves, and Macon will play for the Miami Heat.

This is the second straight year a former Hog will be on Minnesota’s Summer League roster. Last season Moses Kingsley was on the team before playing overseas. Rosters are still being filled out so we don’t know everyone the two will play with, but reports are Macon will be joining Georgia’s Yante Maten with the Heat.
Barford’s first game will be July 6th at 10 p.m. CT on NBATV. Macon will get a chance to see his first action on the 7th at 4 p.m. CT, also on NBATV. All games will be on NBATV or an ESPN Network for the first time.
Since the Summer League is so much about development and filling out those final roster spots, it’s really hard to guess how much playing time the two will get. Moses didn’t get a ton of time since the Wolves’ roster was mostly filled out. But with the NBA looking more and more guard-centric everyday, we should see more playing time for these two. It’s also possible that the two can catch the eyes on another team with a two way roster spot on G-League positions open. No matter what we have some more chances to see some of the most electrifying players that Bud Walton has seen recently, and hopefully it leads to an NBA deal for them.
