We learned last night the Hogs got their regional, that was expected. The Razorbacks also landed the 5th seed in the 2018 Tournament, and will host Southern Miss, Dallas Baptist, and Oral Roberts in their regional.
Hosting throughout the tournament is a huge bonus for Arkansas, who is 30-3 at Baum Stadium and are 18-11 all time in NCAA Tournament games at Baum. It will be the 7th time in school history Arkansas will host a regional, and if Arkansas wins that it will be the third super regional in Baum Stadium’s history. This is the highest national seed Arkansas has been in the Dave Van Horn era and the third time they’ve been a top-8 seed. (8 seed in 2004, 7 seed in 2007)
The Fayetteville Regional is paired up with the Greensville Regional that features No. 12 Seed East Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio State, and UNCW. Should Arkansas win their regional they are guaranteed to host the super regional due to their national seed.
Arkansas’ first game in the regional will be against Oral Roberts, who finished the year 38-18 and won the Summit League by 8 games. Southern Miss and Dallas Baptist will face off in the other game of the regional, which will get started this Friday. Southern Miss was won the C-USA regular season title this year and will be the home team in the opener against Dallas Baptist who was 40-19 and finished second in the Missouri Valley Conference.
