Georgia Wins Series vs. Arkansas
For the fourth time this year, Arkansas won the series opener but couldn’t finish a series. This one ended with two one run losses, and Arkansas being unable to get home a runner from third with no outs in the final inning. Regardless, Arkansas’ RPI and impressive conference record has them in a good place to host all through the Supers...as long as they don’t go 0-2 in Hoover.
Ole Miss Wins Series at Alabama
Ole Miss won the series and shares the SEC West title with Arkansas (The SEC says tiebreakers only apply to seeding, so suck it Red Cup, we’re sharing.) They also put themselves in an excellent spot to host all through the Supers as well. The SEC looks poised to have 3-4 of the eight national seeds.
Mississippi State Sweeps Florida
Look! Florida is mortal! They’ve been wounded! To be fair they had little to play for with the SEC regular season crown already locked up. Still State taking all three from them is mighty impressive. The Bulldogs are now in a really good spot to make the field of 64.
Auburn Wins Series vs. LSU
LSU is now in an unusual spot heading into Hoover. After not a very convincing weekend in Auburn, the Tigers need some good results in the SEC Tournament to feel good about the NCAA Tournament. For the other Tigers? Auburn keeps an outside hope for hosting a regional alive, but are likely a 2-seed no matter what.
South Carolina Wins Series at Texas A&M
Man South Carolina has really put together an impressive last few weeks. The Gamecocks were 6-9 in SEC play after losing twice in a double header to Arkansas. Now they’re 17-13 and finished fifth in the SEC. They’re definitely not a team you want to play in the post season. By the way Arkansas is likely to get them on Wednesday.
Vanderbilt Sweeps Kentucky
Kentucky ended a pretty disappointing regular season in a pretty disappointing way, getting swept by Vanderbilt. The Wildcats just couldn’t put it together against the tough SEC opponents, and ended up in the 10-seed. For Vandy, They’re in the 6-seed and in a good spot to make some noise in the SEC Tournament.
Missouri Wins Series vs. Tennessee
This ultimately was a series for the last spot in the SEC Tournament, Missouri took two of three and ended what was a promising season for a rebuild with Tennessee. Mizzou might still be on the outside looking in for the NCAA Tournament but the SEC Tournament could help them in a big way.
