Monday Recap: Florida Wins Regular Season Crown, Hogs Sweep at Home Again

Just one regular season series remains.

Arkansas Sweeps Texas A&M

Despite the lackluster road record, Arkansas’ incredible home record has kept them on top of the West. Arkansas finished the regular season 30-3 at home after sweeping the Aggies. Arkansas is now a game ahead of Ole Miss and has to match their win total this weekend to win the division. And with them two games up on 5th place South Carolina, they’re in good shape to get a bye in the SEC Tournament.

Florida Wins Series vs. Georgia

Florida won the regular season crown after they took the first two against Georgia. The Bulldogs salvaged the last game of the series and doing that kept them in a position for a bye in the conference tournament. The win kept them in the range of hosting a regional as well, making the upcoming series against Arkansas a big one for them.

Ole Miss Sweeps Auburn

The Rebels kept the pressure on the Hogs all weekend and kicked the Tigers out of the West race in the process. After a one run series opener, Ole Miss cruised in the next two games to stay in the top five and put themselves in a good position for a top 8 seed.

Kentucky Wins Series vs. Miss State

The Wildcats put a damper on Mississippi State’s NCAA Tournament hopes after taking the first two of the series. The Bulldogs win in the series finale keeps them two games above Missouri for a spot in the SEC Tournament. Missing out on the tournament would all but end their shot at the NCAA Tournament.

LSU Wins Series vs. Alabama

The only series this weekend that wasn’t decided in the first two games, LSU kept their slim hopes for a bye in the first round alive. They also avoided a disastrous series loss to their NCAA Tournament hopes. They should be safely in with this series win.

South Carolina Wins Series vs. Missouri

South Carolina stays hot in conference play after a midweek trip up. Missouri took a shot to any of their post season chances. They’ll need to pass both Tennessee and Mississippi State on the final weekend to make the SEC Tournament and have a shot at the NCAA’s.

Vanderbilt Wins Series at Tennessee

Tennessee getting one at home against Vanderbilt kept them in the SEC Tournament for now. They held on for an 8-7 win and it sets up a final series weekend against Missouri for a spot in the SEC Tournament.
