Mason is rated a 3-star safety by 247 Sports and a 4-star by ESPN. He’s the third highest rated recruit coming in behind Connor Noland and Bumper Pool. The safety from Alabama is the 13th highest rated player in the state and is the highest rated safety from there.

He has some more size and can do different things for the Hogs in the secondary. Already listed at 205 lbs., he can drop back in coverage or even come up and cover some tight ends in the league. Mason was excited to play for Defensive Coordinator John Chavis and should have the chance to get some playing time early.
Mason had committed to Mississippi State back in October but took an official visit to Fayetteville in December. Mason was also offered some high profile schools after Dan Mullen left for Gainesville. Alabama, Auburn, and Florida State were also in pursuit of Mason.
