Women’s Basketball
It was a stretch of three games in five days and the Hogs pulled through in all of them, going 3-0 against Prairie View A&M, Nebraska, and Tulsa.
Against PVAMU it was the defense that gave them a 71-44 win. They held PVAMU to just 25% shooting and were able to win comfortably without having a strong offensive performance. They outscored the Panthers 21-9 in the third quarter to pull away in this one.
Arkansas started slow but came back and hit some clutch free throws in the 84-80 win over Nebraska. They trailed at the half but again a strong third quarter set them up well. Chelsea Dungee led the way with 23 points and five rebounds.
Some fatigue might have set in during the third game against Tulsa, but they turned a four point halftime deficit into a 61-59 win. Malica Monk had the ball with the game tied and under 15 seconds to go. Her decisive drive drew a foul and she hit the free throws to win the game. Again Dungee had a very good game with 23 points and nine boards.
Swimming and Diving
Diver Brooke Schultz was the only Hog in action, but was a big winner at the US Winter Nationals. She won the 1 meter competition on her own. She also teamed up with Texas diver Murphy Bromberg to win the 3 meter synchronized competition.
