It was a successful day for the Hogs. They got 20 NLI signatures, including a flip from Gregory Brooks Jr. This is what the coaching staff expected and hoped from the day. The work isn’t done though. They are potentially bringing in as many as 29 players in this class and currently have seven players committed that didn’t sign today. Here’s where things stand with the group that hasn’t signed yet.
No Worries At All, They Will Be Hogs
Hudson Henry and Treylon Burks
I understand the inclination to worry, especially with the recent history of Arkansas athletics. These guys are the top two ranked players in the class and are locked in to being Hogs. Henry’s two older brothers both played in Fayetteville and the plan is to be a part of the February signing ceremony with his teammates. Burks is also going to sign in February, the reports were that he wanted family members at the ceremony that couldn’t be there during this signing period, so he’s going to do it with them in February.
Should Be Okay, Probably
Adonis Otey
I was much more worried about a flip from Otey but he seemed pretty hyped about Gregory Brooks Jr. flipping to the Hogs. This article from a local Murfreesboro paper says Otey is still locked in with the Hogs as well.
Definite Worry of A Flip
Myles Brooks, Devin Bush, A’Montae Spivey, Dante Walker
The two that seem most likely to head elsewhere are Bush and Spivey. Danny West at 247Sports reported that Bush’s decision to not enroll early and sign in February took them a bit by surprise, which isn’t a good indication. They’re still working hard to keep him though and getting Brooks Jr., who is also from Louisiana should help out in those regards.
Spivey is taking a visit to Ole Miss in January. He got a recent offer from the Rebels late in the process and could be flipping in February.
Arkansas Can Still Add Names Right?
Definitely, JUCO linebacker Sci Martin looks pretty likely to come to Fayetteville. The staff is also trying to flip one of the top overall JUCO players in linebacker Lakia Henry who is committed to Tennessee. Chad Morris said he wanted to add “one or two more” linebackers to this class in his press conference today and he’s almost certainly meaning these two.
Arkansas is also going after 4-star Safety Jalen Catalon, who is supposedly deciding between the Hogs and Texas. Arkansas already has two of his teammates from Mansfield Legacy signed in Enoch Jackson and Taurean Carter, so that is something in the Hogs’ favor but things still seem up in there air for him.
