Volleyball
The season came to an end after a rough weekend on the road. Arkansas lost in three straight close sets to Georgia before falling in a five set match against Alabama. Against the Tide, Arkansas had a 2-1 lead but their attack dropped sharply in a 25-10 set loss, and they were unable to recover in the decisive fifth set.
The Hogs finished the year 11-17 and 5-13 in SEC play. They were 11th out of 13 teams in the conference. No conference tournament is played in Volleyball so the season ends at the regular season.
Women’s Basketball
The Hogs played three games in Nashville this weekend and went 2-1 in those, including a dramatic close win against Wisconsin. Before that they topped Tennessee State and lost to Pitt.
Against Tennessee State, the Hogs defense held them to just 27% shooting and four Hogs in double figures led to a 79-55 win. It was Arkansas’ turn to have a slow shooting night against Pitt. They only shot 25% but forcing 22 Panther turnovers kept them in the game, but they couldn’t get over the hump in the fourth, shooting 2/13 from three in that quarter.
Against Wisconsin the Hogs were down 50-35 in the second half but mounted a serious rally. Arkansas trailed by one with 11 seconds to go before A’Tyanna Gaulden stole the inbounds pass and got it to Malica Monk for the game winner.
