Arkansas Overcomes Rough Shooting Night Against UT-Arlington

Hogs got the job done in an ugly one.

It wasn’t pretty, and the shooting on display wasn’t for the Hall of Fame, but the Hogs held strong on defense and got the job done for a xx-xx win over UT-Arlington. Arkansas shot just 32 percent from the field in the first half, and had only a five point lead at halftime. However their defense was solid the entire night and the Hogs were able to put together more on offense in the second half.

The three ball wasn’t there for the Hogs tonight. Isaiah Joe hit the Hogs only two shots from deep on the night and they shot 12% from downtown. Instead Daniel Gafford went to work both in the paint and at the free throw line. He scored 21 and was 9/10 from the free throw line. Jalen Harris also had a very good night from the line, scoring 14 points and going 8/11 at the line. Joe and Adrio Bailey were the other Hogs to hit double figures in scoring.

With the offense not able to get much in the halfcourt, Arkansas ramped up the pressure in the second half and forced 11 of the Mavericks’ 19 turnovers in the second half. The Hogs took advantage and got 25 points off turnovers in the game.

Arkansas didn’t look their best, especially on offense, however they were able to string together the stops they needed and won the game comfortably. This UT-Arlington team came into the game as one of the best in the nation at guarding the three point line and showed that tonight. Arkansas was able to battle through that and get another win.
