Mason Jones led the way, scoring the first seven points of the game and got 15 of his 18 total points in the first half. It gave the Hogs an early lead and they cruised to a 90-68 win over Montana State. Jones was one of five different Hogs to hit double figures.
Daniel Gafford had 16 on a perfect 8/8 shooting night. Jalen Harris had a double double with 11 points and 11 assists. Isaiah Joe didn’t have the best shooting night, going 2/10 from three, but his 10 points went well with five assists and five steals. Adrio Bailey was a perfect 5/5 from the field and rounded out the double digit scorers with 10.
Montana State was able to stay relatively close thanks to some hot shooting from Tyler Hall, who scored 23 points on 8/14 shooting in the first half. The Hogs made adjustments at halftime, and were able to shut him down in the second half, holding him to just six points on 2/6 shooting.
When the Hogs put the clamps on Hall, they were able to stretch it from a comfortable lead to an outright blowout. The Hogs stretched the game open with a 10-3 run to start the second half and give them a 23 point lead. Arkansas stretched that lead to as much as 81-53 and never had lower than a 20 point lead after that run.
The Hogs weren’t expected to be tested much in this one and they took care of business. Next up is a short turnaround and a game against UT-Arlington that should provide a stiffer task.
