Olympic Sports: Push for Postseason

The season is getting to crunch time in a couple sports.

Cross Country

Both the men’s and women’s teams were off this weekend but both have one more upcoming meet before the SEC Championships coming up later this month.

Soccer

They continued their hot streak with a win 2-1 over LSU in double overtime. After LSU converted a penalty kick just before halftime, Tori Cannata equalized early in the second half. In the second OT period, she found the back of the net again to give the Hogs another win in SEC play. The streak came to an end with a 1-3 loss in Oxford to Ole Miss. After falling behind two goals, Arkansas got a lifeline from Kayla McKeon in the 82nd minute to try and extend the match, but the Rebels answered almost immediately to put the game to bed. It was the first loss with Taylor Beitz in goal, and the team is now 4-1 when she starts. This weekend crossed the halfway point in conference play, and the Hogs currently sit in a tie for 4th place with their 4-2 SEC record.

Volleyball

Team got their first SEC win of the year with a come from behind 3-2 win over Ole Miss this weekend. After falling behind 0-2, Arkansas came storming back with three straight set wins. It was a total effort from multiple players, the Hogs had four different players get at least 14 kills in the win. After that a trip to one of the SEC’s best, Missouri, ended in a 3-0 sweep.
