In this week’s edition of Throwback Thursdays, we look back at the last time Arkansas played Tulsa, back in 2012.
November 3, 2012
This game was a lot like this year’s game, an Arkansas team coming in with a desperate need for a win after squandering a chance against Ole Miss in Little Rock.
Arkansas got enough from the Texarkana connection of Dennis Johnson and Cobi Hamilton and a strong performance from their defense to eke out a 19-15 victory. Neither team could get anything going on offense, especially in a second half that only featured nine total points. The Hogs were able to hold Tulsa to 3-15 on third downs through the game.
It would unfortunately be the final victory of the season and the career of John L. Smith, as the Razorbacks would lose to South Carolina, Mississippi State and LSU in succession to finish 4-8 after starting the year ranked in the Top 10.
