Arkansas Unranked in AP Poll

Not surprising, but the Hogs will start the season unranked.

NCAA Football: Arkansas at Mississippi State Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

The start of football season means preseason polls, the AP Poll came out and the Hogs, unsurprisingly, are not ranked. Now in the era of the college football playoff the AP Poll has no bearing on postseason play, and because of that the preseason poll is even more insignificant. Instead the preseason polls at this point means two things.

  1. Braggin’ rights.
  2. Whooo! Football’s back!

So first off, whooo! Football’s back! Also the Hogs have less ranked teams on the schedule than they have in recent years. Six SEC teams are in the preseason poll, the only three on Arkansas’ schedule are No. 1 Alabama, No. 12 Auburn, and No. 13 LSU. With TCU and Texas A&M having less than stellar 2016 seasons and Ole Miss going through, well...yeah, those teams Arkansas usually faces off against when ranked aren’t there at the moment.

Arkansas will have plenty of opportunities to jump in the Top-25 quickly. If the Hogs top TCU and enough teams lose they could hop in at the end of week 2. If that doesn’t do the trick a 3-0 start with a win over Texas A&M would surely do the trick.
