In the span of a week, Arkansas got another commitment, this time on the defensive side of the ball. Homerville, GA native John Mincey announced via twitter he was committing to the Hogs after his unofficial visit.

This is the first big get for new defensive line coach John Scott Jr., who also recruits the state of Georgia. He is listed as a strong-side defensive end, but could also switch to an outside linebacker if the need is there. If you check out his highlights, you’ll see some of his playmaking ability from that outside linebacker spot.
If he sticks at defensive end, he will join Springdale commit Isaiah Nichols at the position. Right now Arkansas doesn’t have any outside linebackers in the 2018 class.
According to 247Sports’ rankings Mincey is a three-star recruit and the 43rd ranked strong-side defensive end in the country. Even more impressive was his list of offers. Nearly half of the SEC, including LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee had offered Mincey.
