After a wild regional filled with five games decided by a single run, Arkansas was on the short side of the final game, losing to Missouri State, 3-2. Arkansas won a couple of one run games, including one that ended past 3 a.m., but those two loses to Missouri State closed the door on a bounce back season for the Razorbacks. Arkansas recovered from a poor 2016 and injuries to have a successful season. The Hogs just couldn’t bounce back from the late night marathon in the previous game.
Baseball is finished but there is still one more event left in the 2016-17 academic year. Arkansas heads out to Eugene this week for the Outdoor NCAA Championships. Read up on the championships here. Arkansas’ women are heading into the meet at No. 2 but are behind hosts Oregon who won both indoor and cross country. The men come into the meet ranked fifth in the country.
One of the keys for the men’s side is Kemar Mowatt. Here is an interesting read on him going into the meet. Mowatt is Jamaican and competed against athletes like former Hog and Gold Medalist Omar McLeod. He had a longer road to Fayetteville and is now one of the favorites in the 400 hurdles.
Arkansas also got a handful of football commits this weekend. The most recent of those was three star defensive back Tanner McCalister. He had offers from a handful of Power 5 schools across the country and is the seventh overall commit in the 2018 recruiting class.
ESPN ranked the SEC Quarterbacks most likely to hit 3,000 yards this season. Austin Allen hit that mark last year and is the second most likely to in this list. The only thing keeping him off the top spot is his lack of returners at wide receiver. Still they give Dan Enos credit to make things happen.
