With the Fayetteville regional getting underway tomorrow, the time for deliberation is well underway. Managing the pitching staff is one of the most important things in postseason baseball. Right now one of the biggest questions is how Dave Van Horn will choose to use Kacey Murphy. After throwing seven scoreless against Florida, we very well could see him starting a potential third game. That and plenty of other baseball notes are here.
Arkansas’ success recently has been in large part to Chad Spanberger’s bat. He had a solid world series but his performance in the SEC Tournament was out of this world. So much so the umpires couldn’t even believe what he was doing. Arkansas will like their chances if he can create even some of what he did in the SEC Tournament.
We know the time of another Razorback Football game. The first Fayetteville game of the year against TCU will be on CBS. It’s the first time in quite a while that a non-conference game will be on CBS. It’s also the network’s first SEC game of the year. They are clearly hoping the teams can recreate some of that magic from last year’s wild affair.
Arkansas basketball is heading to Portland for some marquee basketball games over Thanksgiving break. Now we know who those teams are. Arkansas will open against Oklahoma, and could potentially get a second round matchup against North Carolina. UConn, Georgetown, Michigan State and Oregon are the possibilities for the Hogs’ third matchup.
We don’t have dates for the SEC Schedule but we do now know the home and away games for conference play, along with a couple of non conference games. The Hogs get a home game against Kentucky, South Carolina, Missouri, Oklahoma State, and Minnesota. Plenty of big matchups coming to Bud Walton this season.
