It was clear going into the season that Arkansas’ success was going to ride or die on the play of the incoming JUCO players. Mike Anderson brought in three of the top JUCO guys in the country and has been largely rewarded for it, especially from Jaylen Barford and Daryl Macon. A lot of SEC coaches have been complimentary about the two and their ability to bring Arkansas back to the NCAA Tournament.
Arkansas is making the trip to Greenville, South Carolina this weekend, and there has been plenty of local coverage on them and their opponents. First a look at the Hogs’ most interesting players, which naturally are the two leading scorers but also includes a look at Manny Watkins. They also have a piece on Angel Delgado for Seton Hall, he is the nation’s leading rebounder and had a similar background as Moses Kingsley. Delgado is originally from the Dominican Republic but moved to the states to play basketball.
ESPN did a really cool interactive thing about the mascots in the NCAA tournament. The different mascots are categorized (Razorbacks are in the wild land animals category) and have some facts on how different mascots have fared in the NCAA Tournament. Go ahead and spend some time playing around on this to blow off some time before the game you want to watch starts.
While nearly everyone is caught up in March Madness, the Razorback baseball team keeps picking up wins, getting a midweek sweep over Alcorn State. The bats stayed hot as the Hogs had four home runs and got to double digit runs again. The Braves clearly aren’t the toughest test but the Hogs have hit well throughout the first portion of their schedule. Arkansas now sits at 14-4 with the real test of SEC Play coming up, Mississippi State is up next for a series at Baum Stadium.
