Arkansas Razorbacks News: Signing Day Recap

How did the Hogs fare on a drama free signing day?

NCAA Football: Louisiana State at Arkansas Brett Rojo-USA TODAY Sports

Signing Day came and went with very few surprises for Arkansas. The Hogs had most of their class already in place and got Chevin Calloway as their big Signing Day commit. So how does the class stack up? The goal was to get into the top-25 and depending on who you ask, they are right there. Rivals and ESPN both put them at 24, while 247 has them at 28.

Bret Bielema also appeared to be pretty happy with the overall class. He specifically pointed out some guys that could make an impact quickly like Calloway and the group of receivers coming in to replace a large departing senior class. Some more quick quotes from Bielema about the class and some of the players specifically since this is the first time he can talk about the individual players by name.

If you’re wondering more about Paul Rhodes’ ability as a defensive coordinator, one endorsement for him was his role in one of the most chaotic college football seasons. West Virginia and Pat White was a win over a 4-7 Pitt away from most likely earning a spot in the National Championship game. They were sitting in the top-2, thanks to Arkansas’ upset over LSU, but their high powered offense was stopped and fell to Pitt. Pitt’s defensive coordinator that day just happened to be Paul Rhodes.

If you decided not to check into last night’s game in Bud Walton you missed out. Arkansas played one of their most entertaining games of the season, the win put them into a tie for 4th in the SEC Standings. The second half featured a huge 24-6 run highlighted by this Barford to Bailey alley oop. The run was a few minutes of the true Fastest 40 style that Mike Anderson wants.
