Arkansas Destroys ORU, Forces 27 Turnovers

The Hogs cruise to their ninth win.

NCAA Basketball: Oral Roberts at Arkansas Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports

Arkansas and Oral Roberts looked about as different as two D1 programs could. Arkansas was firing on all cylinders, getting production from everywhere. Oral Roberts, well, they had a difficult time and it showed in the 104-69 final score. The Hogs forced 27 turnovers and six different Razorbacks finished in double figures en route to a 9-2 record and what was maybe their easiest win of the year.

Jaylen Barford finished with a team high 18 points on just nine shots, right behind him was CJ Jones who had 15 points thanks to five three pointers. Daryl Macon and Anton Beard both finished with 14. The Hogs spread out the scoring with a balanced effort all around assisting as well. Six different Hogs had at least three of the 27 Arkansas assists tonight.

It didn’t take long for things to get out of hand on the scoreboard, after a couple of traded baskets, the Hogs went on a 22-4 run to take a 30-12 lead. Not long after that, the Hogs ripped off a 14-0 run and had a 50-21 lead.

The second half was never closer than 25, and at one point the Hogs had built a 40 point lead. After a scoreless first half, Macon got the Hogs going offensively, draining four shots from deep in the half. Oral Roberts throughout the night had no shot against the Razorbacks’ pressure and it led 26 fast break points.

Next up is a break for the holidays and a final non conference game before a tough SEC opener against Tennessee. For right now Arkansas can only beat the teams in front of them and tonight they did that emphatically.
