In the game back in Central Arkansas, it was two of the 501 boys who led the charge in Arkansas’ 88-63 win over Troy. Daryl Macon had 25 points and five assists, while Anton Beard pitched in 11 points. The third Little Rock player, Darious Hall also threw in four points in his return home.
If there was any fear of a Little Rock curse, those were dashed quickly. After Troy jumped to a 8-2 start, the Hogs went on a decisive 13-0 run and never looked back. The run was led by Macon and capped off by a three from Beard.
Troy did have a little bit more fight in them this first half, trimming the lead down to one. The Hogs responded though, to the tune of a 21-2 run that gave the Hogs a 41-21 lead. After that run the Trojans would never really threaten again. Balanced scoring was key in the run, seven different Razorbacks would score during that stretch and nine picked up a basket in the first half.
Behind Macon and Beard, the balanced scoring continued. Daniel Gafford had 10 and three blocks, Adrio Bailey scored 10 and pulled down six boards. Trey Thompson put in good minutes as well with eight points and two blocks.
The team is inching closer to conference play and an early test against Tennessee, the Hogs are now wrapping up their non conference slate in style before leading up to that game. Before the Tennessee game, Arkansas has two more non conference games against weaker opponents much like Troy. If this game was any indication they will cruise in those as well.
