We’re now within two weeks of kickoff and the preseason AP Top 25 poll dropped on Sunday. Despite the fact that several of Arkansas’ games are considered “toss-ups”, the Hogs are unranked and, as expected, several of Arkansas’ opponents are ranked:
- Alabama is at #1
- LSU at #5
- Ole Miss at #11
- TCU at #13
- Florida at #25
The Razorbacks received 14 points, behind opponents Texas A&M (81 points) and Auburn (22). However, that’s gleefully ahead of Texas (12) and eternal arch-nemesis Toledo (2).
So who are these wonderful souls who voted for the Hogs? Thankfully, collegepolltracker.com has that information.
This year, Arkansas’ best good friend in the media is...wait for it.....

Ed Johnson from the Albuquerque Journal voted Arkansas 22nd, the highest of all voters. Thank you, Ed!
Ed’s big on the SEC. He has Alabama, LSU, and Tennessee all in his top 4. He also has Florida, Texas A&M, and Georgia ranked as well. Tip of the hog hat to you!
Arkansas’ other voters were Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald voted the Hogs 23rd, Joe Walljasper of the Columbia Tribune and Patrick Brown from the Chattanooga Times Free Press voted Arkansas 24th. And Garry Smits from the Florida Times-Union, Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News, and our very own Tom Murphy from the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette voted Arkansas 25th (attaboy, Tom!).
