Word leaked out a few weeks ago that Scotty Thruman was going to become an official assistant coach for the basketball program and now-former assistant Matt Zimmermann was going to be moved into an administrative role, and as of Wednesday, it's now official.
It wasn't a very well kept secret as Thurman has already been on the recruiting trail and had a hand in Arkansas landing recent signee Brachen Hazen.
This is the first time Mike Anderson's staff has changed since shortly after arriving at Missouri. Zimmermann had been his assistant for the last 14 seasons. He will stay on at Arkansas as the program's new director of operations.
All Razorback fans know Thurman from his famous playing days in the mid 90s as well as most recently being the radio analyst for Razorback basketball broadcasts. He'll leave that role open to take his seat on Arkansas' bench.
Thurman had also previously been the program's Director of Student-Athlete Development for the last six seasons, and Jeff Daniels, a 10-year member of Anderson's staff, will assume those roles.
