Arkansas Razorbacks Internet Chatter - Hogs at the Senior Bowl, Baseball, and CROOTIN

It was a busy weekend, check out the news from football and baseball!

This weekend was the Senior Bowl in Mobile and the SEC quarterbacks stole the show. Dak Prescott was named the game MVP but Brandon Allen had a quality outing as well. You can see the highlights of him here. Allen made some impressive throws downfield and even showed off some scrambling ability. Overall he finished 7-10 for 106 yards, and he led the South team to a scoring drive in the third quarter. Each quarterback got a quarter in the game, and Allen got to play his behind Sebastian Tretola working on the offensive line.

Speaking of Tretola, Arkansas' star lineman was again put into a scoring situation at the Senior Bowl, but unlike when he threw a touchdown pass for Arkansas in 2014, this time he was set up to catch a touchdown pass. The results didn't go Tretola's way, as the big lineman fell to the ground trying to get a hold of the ball but came down without it. The play didn't seem to hamper opinions of Tretola's NFL potential, however as most analysts seemed to think he did well.

Preseason baseball got their start this weekend to something that has been unfamiliar to them in the past couple years, some sunshine. The team got some work in at Baum Stadium this weekend and will be hoping to not use the indoor practice facility as much as they did last year. The article also talks about some highlights from the scrimmage, which included a homerun from Carson Shaddy. That was a welcome sight after his Tommy John surgery. There are also some questions on how Dave Van Horn will use All-American Zach Jackson. Right now the plans are to keep him as the closer but Van Horn says he could fill some different roles throughout the season.

Signing day is right around the corner and Arkansas had a busy weekend. Four recruits committed to the Hogs just during the Texas Tech game. Kiel Pollard also flipped to South Carolina, so it can't all be good news. Here is a basic update of where the class stands right now. It focuses on both the Rivals and Scout rankings, which aren't as favorable to what 247Sports and ESPN has the Hogs rated. Those services give the Hogs an outside chance of landing a top-20 class, which would be among the best of recent years.
