The Razorbacks have their first official signee of the 2017 recruiting class with the signature of JUCO wideout Jonathan Nance. Junior college athletes are eligible to sign with programs Wednesday, and this is not expected to be the final signature Arkansas receives today.
Receiver is a priority position in this year’s class for Arkansas due to the graduations of Drew Morgan, Keon Hatcher, Cody Hollister and Dominique Reed. Jared Cornelius is the only receiver with significant experience on the field scheduled to return next season.
Here’s what we wrote when Nance committed in May:
Nance is a former Southern Miss signee and receiver at Gulf Coast Community College (MS). The wideout stands 6-2, 185 pounds and had offers from the Razorbacks as well as Troy. He was also receiving interest from Colorado State.
In his freshman season at Gulf Coast, Nance caught 31 passes for 400 yards and three touchdowns. He grabbed eight passes in a game once, and hauled in all three of his scores in the final two games of his season.
Nance was named MACJC Offensive Player of the Week for his five-catch, 109-yard receiving game against Itawamba Community College.
