QB Ricky Town Transferring To Arkansas From USC

Quarterback 6'4" 210 lbs. Ventura, California

Quarterback has seemed to be one of the most stout positions on the depth chart, filled with quality recruits in every class over the last few years. That competition isn't deterring former USC quarterback Ricky Town, who is officially a Razorback as of today.

Town was a consensus 4* prospect in the class of 2015, rated the #79 overall prospect according to 247's composite scores. He initially committed to Alabama in 2013 but decommitted shortly after Doug Nussmeier was no longer their offensive coordinator. He quickly committed to USC in January 2014 and enrolled last spring. He went through spring practice with the Trojans but decided to transfer shortly after preseason camp, announcing he was leaving just last weekend.

Arkansas' pro-style offense is apparently a big draw.

You know us, pro-style offense U.

Town will sit out this year as a true freshman as per transfer rules, but will be eligible as a redshirt freshman in 2016. He's in the same quarterback class as Ty Storey.

That means Arkansas will have junior Austin Allen, sophomore Rafe Peavey, redshirt freshmen Storey and Town, and true freshman Cole Kelley on campus when Brandon Allen leaves after this season, as of right now, anyway. It should be quite the competition.

Enjoy all the inevitable Mitch Mustain trade jokes and Ryan Mallett transfer comparisons. They're already out there.

Welcome, Ricky.
