The casual college basketball fan got a treat Saturday when Arkansas and UNC met down in Jacksonville for a track meet of a round of 32 game. It was probably the most wide open I've seen the Razorbacks play in the last four years. The pace was break neck and, if I didn't have a dog in the fight, would've enjoyed it a lot more. But in a day and age when college basketball has some issues with low scoring outputs and slow-paced play, Arkansas-UNC provided some excitement, and the nation loved it.
Last week I wrote couple of specials to the Arkansas News Bureau that was also put in the Times Record in Fort Smith. I touched on how the new football coaches – Dan Enos and Jemal Singleton – were bringing fresh energy to spring practices, and I also wrote on Jonathan Williams and his "Trey Flowers treatment." The decision to sit Williams this spring is probably a good one. Holding Flowers out last spring paid off and was able to be physically and mentally prepared for his senior season, and the coaches hope the same can happen with JWill.
When March rolls around, everyone – minus Darren Rovell – wants to either fill out a bracket or create a bracket of some kind, and it gets kind of old after a while. But ESPN's SEC blog did a bracket for SEC football, and it's pretty interesting. They seeded the teams 1-14 based on what's going on with spring practice, and took injuries into account as well. Alex Scarborough breaks down each matchup and picks a winner all the way to the championship game. Edward Aschoff also did the same thing. Have to love filler stories during spring football practice.

I really did get the hookup at Popeye's before the game Saturday. I wasn't just saying this to say it.
