A huge night is ahead in Bud Walton Arena. The Razorbacks get a chance to yet again prove they are the second best team in the SEC by getting a quality win over a Texas A&M team needing a signature win for their own tournament résumé. The Aggies are off to their best start in four years, but fans are still slow to catch on and really get behind. And that has TAMU athletic director Eric Hyman envious of Arkansas.
Nolan Richardson is also getting honored with a banner tonight, so good luck, Aggies. Arkansas might as well go ahead and announce they will name the court after him tonight, too. Timing couldn't be better if you ask me. But again, tonight is huge. If Arkansas takes care of business tonight, the hype around the Kentucky game Saturday will skyrocket. Here's a basketball roundup from the last week that includes a neat quote from Mike Anderson on the banner ceremony.
Arkansas basketball is rolling. Winners of 31 of their last 40 overall, Mike Anderson has the Razorbacks back in the national spotlight. So much so that tonight's game switched from SEC Network to ESPN's Super Tuesday because of the SEC race and because of how well both teams are playing, but especially Arkansas. Anderson spoke in the preseason about finally having "his guys," and this fan base and team is finally seeing the success it deserves.
It may be late February and the height of the college basketball season, but it doesn't mean we can't talk a little bit about football. too. That's exactly what ESPN's SEC blog has done, ranking the league's top running back units. And as you may know, Jonathan Williams and Alex Collins will both be back in the backfield this fall and they are both good at football. ESPN is high on the Arkansas running backs, but how high exactly?
