It was a rough start to the weekend. Arkansas lost the first two games despite giving up just three total runs. Frustrations may have boiled over when, after the Hogs lost 1-0 Saturday night, there was reportedly something between a scuffle and angry yelling between the two teams. They had to be separated by coaches, apparently. But either way, the Hogs' bats came back to life for the Sunday game, with Arkansas claiming its first SEC victory of the season.

The Arkansas baseball team (9-7, 1-2 SEC) defeated Florida (13-7, 2-1) on Sunday afternoon by a 9-3 final at McKethan Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.
Arkansas jumped on the Gators early, scoring four runs in the first two innings, and added two in the fourth and three in the ninth after Florida pulled within 6-3 after the fourth inning. The Gators scored one run in the second and two in the fourth with no outs before being held scoreless over the final 6.0 innings. The win snapped Florida’s season-high seven-game winning streak and was the Gators’ first loss at home since Feb. 28.
Junior Jacob Stone (3-0) earned his third win of the season after he pitched 3.0 shutout innings, striking out three and allowing just one hit. Junior Chris Oliver made the start and allowed one unearned run over 2.0 innings. Junior Michael Gunn picked up his second save of 2014 by pitching the final 3.0 innings and allowing just one hit with no runs and one strikeout.
Senior team captain Jake Wise hit his first home run of the season, blasting a shot over the wall in left field leading off the second inning, and also added a double. Junior Brian Anderson led the Razorbacks with three RBI collected with a sacrifice fly in the first inning and a two-RBI double in the second. Freshman Andrew Benintendi and sophomore Tyler Spoon, batting first and second, respectively, each scored three runs to pace Arkansas from the top of the lineup.

The Arkansas baseball team (8-7, 0-2 SEC) dropped a 1-0 final to Florida (13-6, 2-0) Saturday evening at McKethan Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.
Sophomore Trey Killian (0-3) provided Arkansas with a complete-game effort as he pitched 8.0 innings and allowed just one run while striking out a season-high six. The complete game was Killian’s first as a Razorback and Arkansas’ second in eight days after junior team captain Jalen Beeks pitched the Razorbacks’ first complete game since 2011 last Friday vs. San Francisco. In his last two starts, Killian has thrown 15.0 innings and allowed just two earned runs to lower his season earned-run average to 3.06.
Andrew Benintendi, Brian Anderson and Jake Wise each collected a hit for Arkansas, and Benintendi added a walk to reach base twice. Wise, who entered the weekend tied for the SEC lead with two pickoffs, picked off a runner at first in the bottom of the fifth inning and ended Florida’s half of the eighth by throwing out a runner attempting to steal second base.

The Arkansas baseball team (8-6, 0-1 SEC) fell 2-1 to Florida (12-6, 1-0) in the SEC opener for both teams Friday at McKethan Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.
Junior team captain Jalen Beeks (3-2) was saddled with the loss after allowing two runs on six hits and striking out three in 4.2 innings of work. Freshman Zach Jackson entered the game with two outs in the fifth inning and stranded runners on second and third with a strikeout. The Berryhill, Okla., native struck out three over 2.1 innings of work and has not allowed an earned run in his first 14.2 innings as a Razorback.
Sophomore Bobby Wernes and senior team captain Jake Wise led Arkansas at the plate with two hits each. Freshman Clark Eagan registered his first collegiate RBI with a two-out single to drive in junior Eric Fisher from second after Fisher reached on a one-out walk in the top of the second inning and advanced into scoring position with a stolen base.
