Not a huge weekend as far as premier match ups go. Baylor/Oklahoma was expected to be one of the elite games this season but the three losses between them has demoted the game to an 11am slot. Arkansas is in a hotly contested recruiting battle with Oklahoma for Jalin Barnett, who may make an official visit to Norman for the game, so it may be in Arkansas' interest for Baylor to win. Of course, the Hogs are also hoping to land Khalil Haughton from Waco who is heavily considering Baylor, but that seems like a longer shot at this point.
Auburn and Texas A&M headline the afternoon SEC slot. Based on last week, you have to think this could be A&M's fourth consecutive SEC beatdown, but usually when you say "based on last week" the opposite happens. Notre Dame and Arizona State is the biggest afternoon game as far as playoff implications, with the loser likely eliminated from contention.
Alabama and LSU of course are the main event. Look for Hog fans to be hoping LSU wins so they don't "get angry" as the storyline went after Alabama lost to Ole Miss. I don't think that really matters. What matters is that LSU is playing a major game that they're investing a lot of emotion and physicality into while Arkansas will be sitting back and resting up. Also, early predictions seem to be expecting a cold night in Fayetteville next week, which you think would be an advantage for the Hogs.
Enjoy the bye week!
