This was the last week we will only have one SEC game until that early December game at the Georgia Dome. You know that one that decides who wins the league. So I hope you've gotten your fill of these silly non-conference games.
Here's our ballot for the SB Nation SEC Power Poll. We'll link the full poll results here after they're posted tomorrow.
1) Alabama (1-0, Last week: 1)- No reason to take them off the top spot after a bye week. Come next week, we may have some changes.
2) LSU (2-0, LW: 2)- The more of the new Zach Mettenberger the better for the Bayou Bengals. He threw for five more touchdowns this week. Maybe his "shaving the mustache" antidote is finally coming around . While the stable of running backs continues to do their thing for Les Miles, Odell Beckham is quickly becoming LSU's biggest weapon (5 receptions for 136 yards and 3 scores this week).
3) Texas A&M (2-0, LW: 4)- Johnny Manziel has played well against inferior competition. He will be tested more this weekend when the Aggies host Saban and Co. on their revenge tour.
4) Georgia (1-1, 1-0 SEC, LW: 5)- If the young defense can catch up this is a dangerous team to challenge Alabama for the top spot. Aaron Murray had his best game ever against a team that he hadn't beaten before. The big "IF": the defense gave up 30 points for the second straight week.
5) South Carolina (1-1, 0-1, LW: 4)- Losing in Athens at the hands of the Bulldogs was no surprise. Jadeveon finally got a sack this season, however, he leads a defense that is suspect against the run and hasn't forced a turnover all season.
6) Ole Miss (2-0, 1-0, LW: 7)- The Rebels took care of business early, scoring on their first five possessions and had the starters out before halftime. Bo Wallace needs to stay healthy for this team. His backup Barry Brunetti was 3-of-12 for 48 yards and led only one scoring drive in five chances.
7) Vanderbilt (1-1, 0-1, LW: 8)- Austin Peay, against schools from the SEC, has a lost by combined score of: 83-3. Hopefully the the Governors were compensated fairly by their in-state opponents.
8) Florida (1-1, LW: 6)- Wasn't quarterback Jeff Driskel the supposed reincarnate of college Tim Tebow. Instead, Driskel has followed his predecessor by playing more like the NFL Tim Tebow. Not what Gator fans were hoping for.
9) Tennessee (2-0, LW: 10)- I still have my doubts about the Volunteer team, but Butch Jones has this program headed in the right direction. The defense forced seven turnovers, five of them coming in a six-play span. The Hilltoppers had more turnovers, but they also had first downs, a better 3rd down percentage, and total yards. So there's that.
10) Auburn (2-0, LW: 11)- Gus Malzahn's squad put in a solid performance against his former team, an easy day at the office. A visiting Mississippi State team could prove to be an entertaining matchup on Saturday.
11) Missouri (2-0, LW 12)- Sure the Tigers won, but it wasn't until the third quarter that they took a two-possession lead. Next week, Missouri travels to Indiana after an off week.
12) Arkansas (2-0, LW: 9)- Can Razorback fans at least be thankful for a win? Last year's team would have dropped this game. In good news, freshman running back Alex Collins is leading the SEC in rushing with 303 yards.
13) Mississippi State (1-1, LW: 13)- Beating an FBS foe by 43 points doesn't push you up in the power rankings, but not doing so in convincing fashion is enough to drop a team down (e.g. Arkansas).
14) Kentucky (1-1, LW: 14)- The Wildcats got a much needed win over Miami (OH). On a list of many concerns, they collected 117 negative yards on 11 penalties.
