What college football fan doesn't love a great game? For Arkansas fans, you immediately begin to think of the 7 OT game vs Ole Miss, and Kentucky (Arkansas had a 6'5", 320 pound TE in this one), and the 50-48 3 OT victory over #1 LSU in Baton Rouge in HDN's last game as Head Hog. Bleacher Report has complied a list of the 20 greatest SEC games of the BCS era, which includes several incredible Arkansas games, win or lose. Casey Dick to Peyton Hillis on 4th and long, just like ya drew it up.
The news of safety Alan Turner's father passing away came as chilling news to us all. Despite losing his father to cancer the night before the Samford game, Turner played and started. The junior from Junction City, Arkansas has played well in two games this season, amassing 12 tackles, good for second on the team.
Southern Mississippi, losers of 14 straight ball games (their last win came in my freshman year), enters Saturday's contest off a beating at the hands of Taylor Martinez and Nebraska. I did a preview of Southern Miss for the Arkansas Traveler last week, which you can read here. Check it out and see who is throwing all the interceptions on offense for the Golden Eagles.
What's a week of college football without making your own predictions? SB Nation's Team Speed Kills made their picks on this week's SEC games, which also includes point spreads for each game if you're into making money on amateur athletics. My picks for week 3: Alabama over Texas A&M, Ole Miss over Texas, Arizona State over Wisconsin.
The third weekend of college football is going to be a great one. Alabama-Texas A&M will fight to the death in College Station, an SEC team has a shot to beat Texas, and Arkansas hosts Southern Miss. Sounds like a good weekend to me. Here's an SEC schedule of games for the weekend so you can watch football all day and be a real contributing member of society. Have a great weekend!
