Arkansas Football Countdown: 93 Days

It's getting closer.

ArkansasRazorbacks.com

There's a lot of potential in #93. That number currently belongs to sophomore defensive tackle DeMarcus Hodge. Hodge played sparingly as a redshirt freshman in 2012, recording two tackles in three appearances.

But coming out of spring practice, the 6'1", 240 pounder from Monroe, Louisiana is listed as the second-team tackle behind senior Byran Jones. He was credited with three tackles in the spring game and should see significant minutes on the field this fall as part of the defensive line rotation.

Hodge was ranked among the top players in Lousiana coming out of high school and chose Arkansas over Mississippi State, TCU, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Pictured is Marcus Shavers, who wore #93 from 2005-2008. Shavers was a 4* recruit out of high school, but unfortunately never quite lived up to that billing while in Fayetteville. He played in seven games as a true freshman in 2005 and played in 12 games in 2007, recording 7 tackles as a junior. He injured his shoulder before his senior year in 2008 and didn't play for Bobby Petrino.

But for Hodge, much like the current state of the Razorback football program, the whole world is in front of him, just waiting to be taken.

Kickoff's in 93 days, y'all.
