Damon Mitchell Signs With Arkansas!

Mitchell is the second Signing Day commitment for the Razorbacks

Nelson Chenault-US PRESSWIRE

Name: Damon Mitchell

Position: Dual-Threat Quarterback

Height: 6-2

Weight: 205

Hometown/High School: Egg Harbor City, New Jersey; Cedar Creek High School

Mitchell had been committed to Georgia Tech, but took was one of four players to take an official visit to Fayetteville last weekend and on Signing Day joined the other three players in pledging to the Razorbacks. He is considered one of the top prospects in New Jersey, and the #15 dual-threat quarterback in the nation according to Rivals.com. He threw for 1,730 yards last season as a senior. He also played defense as a junior, racking up 43 tackles and picking off three passes. Mitchell was also offered by Iowa, Wisconsin, Syracuse, Rutgers, and Boston College among others.

Mitchell is the second quarterback of this class along with Austin Allen, who is a more traditional quarterback. It will be interesting to see what Bielema has planned for these quarterbacks in the future, in much the same way it will be interesting to see what happens this spring with Brandon Allen and Brandon Mitchell. By far, Bielema's most successful quarterback at Wisconsin was dual-threat Russell Wilson, so we'll have to wait and see what he favors among the players on his team.
