Name: Brooks Ellis
Position: LB
Height: 6-2
Weight: 215
Hometown/High School: Fayetteville, Ark/Fayetteville High School
Brooks Ellis joins fellow Bulldogs Austin Allen and Alex Brignoni on the Hill this fall. The linebacker was the general of Fayetteville’s defense the past couple of years, getting his first start as a sophomore at safety. He totaled 130 tackles that year, that’s just…wow. However, for the past two seasons, the middle linebacker spot has been his home, and as a senior he recorded 110 tackles, behind only fellow Arkansas commit Alex Brignoni.
Ellis was named Defensive Player of the Year in the state for the 2012 season, and he could get some looks as a true freshman this upcoming year. When Alonzo Highsmith’s season was cut short by a foot injury, freshman Otha Peters and AJ Turner stepped in and played well. Ellis could be part of what could be a dangerous young linebacker group for the next few years. Ellis will bring a hard hitting physicality to camp this fall, and could push for early playing time.
Brooks Ellis highlights can be seen here.
