Wooooo pig sooooie!Great night to be a Razorback!— Bret Bielema (@BretBielema) February 5, 2013
Alex Collins, from Ft. Lauderdale's South Plantation High School, is considered by some to be the top running back prospect in Florida and one of the top backs in the country. He is a 5* recruit on Scout and 24/7 and a 4* on Rivals.
This is a huuuuuuge get for Bielema and his staff. Not only is this a big boost to the perception of the overall class regardless of it's final ranking, but it beefs up what could have been a scary-thin running back stable heading into 2013. It also makes a statement for Bielema that he can in fact go into Florida and pull a top player from Miami and FSU, and those who said he wouldn't be able to recruit in the SEC should take him seriously as his staff embarks on the class of 2014 in a few days.
Collins has been one of Bret Bielema's top targets since Bielema came to Arkansas in December. Collins originally committed to Miami, but Bielema developed a strong relationship with Collins at Wisconsin and transferred that relationship to Arkansas. Collins took an official visit to Fayetteville during the last weekend in January and his recruitment has been one of the most-heated of the year for Arkansas fans. This was one of his tweets while in Fayetteville:
WOOWWWWWW !!!!! That's all I can say is WOWWWWW !!!! More to come on my experience after I leave the catfish hole !— alexander collins (@Budda03) January 26, 2013
We look forward to seeing Collins in the backfield with Jonathan Williams this fall. Collins is Arkansas 21st commitment for the Class of 2013.
