Dan Skipper committed to Arkansas on Monday after making his official visit to Fayetteville a little over a week ago.
Skipper, from Arvada, Colorado, is literally a big (6'10", 295 lbs) pickup for the Hogs, and will hopefully be a part of an impressive offensive line along with new Razorbacks Reeve Koehler and John McClure.
Depending on the recruiting service you prefer, Skipper is a 4* or high 3*, but did hold offers from schools such as Ohio State, Oklahoma, Michigan, and Florida State in addition to Tennessee. The Razorbacks were hopeful to get Skipper after the big tackle committed to offensive line coach Sam Pittman and offensive coordinator Jim Chaney when Pittman and Chaney were assistants on the Vols staff under Derek Dooley..
Hey, remember when people pointed to that comment Bret Bielema made at Wisconsin about not wanting any part of SEC recruiting? And how it was questionable whether or not he'd have success at Arkansas because he might not fight hard to get players if they were committed elsewhere. With this Skipper commitment, the effort put in to get Alabama commitment Altee Tenpenny, and former Wisconsin commit Tiquention Coleman, we can safely put those worries to rest.
By our count, Skipper is Arkansas 17th commitment for the class of 2013. It should also be noted that this is the second consecutive year in which the Razorbacks have flipped a Tennessee commitment (Otha Peters last year) to Arkansas just days before Signing Day. Just felt like mentioning that.
